Hi, does anyone know how games run on 64 bit operating systems either XP or Vista. I have 8 GB dual channel ram installed in my pc. I play games a lot however 32 bit OS can only see 4GB of ram and I was wondering if I upgrade to 64 bit and be able to use all memory I got will it affect video games anyhow? Are they desired to run on 32 bit operating systems or it doesn’t matter at all? Whats your experience?

I used Vista Ultimate for a while and tested every game I could come across on it, it ran flawlessly. The difference between 64 bit and 32 bit is like the difference between dvd and cd. If you put a dvd into a dvd player it will work well, if you put a cd into a dvd player it will work very well, if you put a dvd into a cd player it will not work. 32 bit programs run excellent on 64 bit OS. Good luck!

Most newer games will install and run on the 64bit system, however they are usually written for 32bit systems, so I’m not sure if they would take advantage of the extra RAM. I have had trouble installing older games on a 64bit system. I have had trouble with other programs besides games as well.
