getting rid of antivirus xp 2008?

November 20th, 2008 · 7 Comments

Ok. So this has infected my computer pretty bad. I’ve been using my computer on safe mode for about 2 months now. I have run Avast and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and nothing. When I try to run the computer in normal mode (not safe mode), my desktop is a solid blue screen. Help.

Go to this site for details. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove-antivirus-xp-2008 You don’t have to do it on the affected computer if it won’t let you. Print off the instructions and download he required software on another computer. Save it to a memory stick and transfer it to the infected one and follow the instructions. Good luck

You have a malware (virus) on your system which is antivirus 2008/9.

Antivirus 2009 and 2008 is not an antivirus program, it is malware (a scam program designed to get you to pay money to have it removed). Do not pay anything!

      To get rid of it:

You need a free program called Malwarebytes. Download it here: http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10896905

Install and run Malwarebytes and then your be fine.

Here are full instructions if you get stuck getting rid of it: (But Malware bytes will do it for you.

Make sure you have an up-to-date antivirus installed, such as AVG Free Edition at: http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10891365

Edit - maleware bytes should have worked. Sounds like you might need to re-install the OS now
