Well, I am 27 years old and about to turn 28 in early August. With 27 being the age limit for active duty, I don't have time to play games with the recruiter. Either I take it or turn it down and hope he has something better to offer within the next two months. My ASVAB score was 93 for general and I have a GED with 15 college credits, so I am considered a tier 1 high school graduate. Security forces doesn't seem that bed, but i definitely do not want to end up as a cook or supply clerk.

im in the marines but i have alot of buddies in all branches. its just a risk and gamble you take going in open contract. i have a friend that went in as a crew cheif for ch53's so i guess it just depends. and if you did on the asvab they wont give you a dumb MOS. especially if you can be used in an MOS where you wold be qualified in. but ive heard horror stories about going in open. its just a risk and if you do go in open be prepared for anything. good luck
