Have Avast 4 business & new license code, box drops down ?

I may have a virus on my Mac so I bought Avast Professional. Have its new license code. Have used the Avast home trial version, its license has expired. When I open Avast,I get the usual box drop of options with a message that sez my old license has expired - asking Quit or Change?
When I hit change, it takes me to my Applications file. I have tried every Avast file I have in Applications and none seem to be the right answer. I need some further direction as my computer is running slower and I’d like to be able to check for virus problems! Help and Thank You!
