Have HP laptop with no boot disk, has factory backup partition. How to I load it? Experts Only Pl?

October 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment

I tried to load Vista SP1 and it jacked my system. Then when I clicked load last know good configuration it freezes. When I go to safe mode, system files load all the way to crcdisk.sys then the whole thing freezes. I have no boot disk, I bought the laptop from Costco. I don’t know what to do, normally I would just pop in a XP boot disk and reload it, but when I do that, even when I select CD as primary boot agent, my HP just sits there with a black screen all night. Please help, and thanks!
Tried that, it takes me to BIOS setup. On my computer I think its F11. But when I hit F11 to enter "system recovery" it takes me to the F8 screen where I can load last know good, start windows normally, or boot into safe mode.

I dont have the option to reload to factory specs.

I may have complicated things by installing Linux a while back on D, so the boot agent could be an issue as well.

When the laptop is switched on and you see the BIOS screen and stuff, keep pressing F10, that should take you to the factory restore application which restores your laptop to factory release condition. Once you get into it, it should be fairly simple to follow the instructions to format and reinstall windows and restore your laptop.
