I have Norton Internet Security and just today, it told me that I had a problem with my subscription/license and tells me it needs to be activated. When I hit the activate now link, it goes to the activation screen saying it is activating the product yet all of a sudden the screen goes white and exits by itself. I don’t touch anything when it does this. My subscription doesn’t expire till 2010 and I have had this product for 2-3 years but I did get this download for an upgrade, so I upgraded it but I never got an e-mail or anything that I had to activate anything until today where Norton itself is telling me to activate the product but still no e-mails from Norton. Can someone help me? I try contacting Norton but it won’t let me e-mail Norton without an Order Number which I do not have anymore and it takes forever for them to answer the phone and that 24/7 service is obviously a lie. Can someone tell me what I should do?

You can either try reinstalling Norton, keep ringing the helpline or try some of the free alternatives.
Avast is free and effective, it scans your downloads for viruses (unlike AVG) and also includes anti-rootkit and anti-spyware, it can also run a boot scan.

I use Avast along side Comodo Pro firewall both are free and have been independently tested and proven to be more effective then Norton or Mcafee.
