My friend gave me a Windows Xp Pro disc and it had no product key, and i installed it without putting the product key in. I downloaded a program and found the product key on the Install disc but whenever i try activating it says its wrong. is there any way i can do something to make the activation thing go away for free without calling microsoft.

No. You have to call Microsoft. If your copy is stolen then they won’t help you. If the key doesn’t work then they will give you a new one. There is a computer that answers the phone so you don’t have to lie to a person. Just do it.
