Help! Antivirus xp 2008 won’t go away!?

September 5th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Ok, my mom downloaded a video codec and attached to tha codec was the aforementioned program. It downloaded on its own because I couldn’t get it to stop! I have brought up the task manager and ended its processes and I have deleted the registry keys that it created and finally deleted it from the program list but is still wreaking havoc on my computer. It has a stupid window on my background saying that i have all these viruses and I can’t change my background, also, my computer is moving very slowly and is freezing up so badly that I am having to turn it off and turn it back on alot! Please Help!

you need to use a 'layered' approach to removing this parasite which has been successful in hundreds of cases

      Remove Restrictions Tool:
      http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/RRT-Remove-Ristrictions-Tool-Download-68926.html
Download from Softpedia Secure Download (RO), install, run and check all boxes then click Apply and then reboot. This tool re-enables what codecs/viruses have disabled.

      RogueRemover:
      http://www.download.com/RogueRemover/3000-8022_4-10634508.html
Download, install, update, scan and follow on screen prompts.

      Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
      http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?hhTest=1.
Download, install, update and select Full Scan.
Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

      SmitFraud Removal
Firstly, download the removal tool from here:
      http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe
      How to use:
      http://cotojo.wordpress.com/2007/08/24

      Spybot S&D:
      http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
Download, install, update and Immunize, turn off Tea Timer then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

      SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:
      http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html
Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan

      VundoFix:
      http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/global/removal_tool/threat_writeups/FixVundo.exe
Disconnect your computer from the internet
      Run vundo
      Restart your computer
Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.
If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

If your desktop has changed or icons are missing also use:
      Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:
      http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hijack_Remover_d4816.html
Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

      Finally clean your Registry:
      Eusing Free Registry Cleaner:
      http://www.download.com/Eusing-Free-Registry-Cleaner/3000-2094_4-10521691.html
allows you to safely clean and repair registry problems with a few simple mouse clicks.
      http://cotojo.wordpress.com/2007/08/13/

If the problem persists, turn OFF System Restore, Right click My computer > select Properties > System Restore Tab > Tick Turn Off System restore on all drives and scan with the above programs in Safe Mode - tap F8 during boot before Windows splash screen and select Safe Mode.

After scans are complete and machine is clean remember to turn system restore back ON and create a new restore point.

you might have the zlob codec infection, use google to find out how to remove infections. We have a service to remove all infections and this is a pretty tough infection so you will need to be careful and follow any steps that you find perfectly.

By the way, you might find a few infections so be sure to scan with a few online virus scans to be sure that you find all infected files. We have a list at http://pcultracare.com/free_online_virus_scans.php

      Good Luck
