It was a music making program that i downloaded online and i ran a scan afterward with my norton antivirus and it detected the trojan that was in it. So i removed the trojan with norton and now that has been resolved.
So, my question is, can i still use the program now since the trojan is not in it anymore or what? r should i just uninstall and delete the program completely?
Sorry i dont know anything about computers at all
it was a trojan or virus ..something bad like that some kind of security threat it said
well i didnt scan it RIGHT away after i downloaded it. i used it briefly right after i downloaded it and it seemed fine, but i still had a suspicion because it was kind of slow so thats what promted me to do a scan

Delete the whole program as who might know what it was suppose to do in the first place. Just delete the whole thing:
Try Audacity — good one

YES remove it right away, if it had a trojan to start, it's a bad program to start with
And yes, Audacity owns all…

scan it gain and see if it's infected. If not then you can install it and see if it still works

remove the program
why would you want to keep it if you got the virus?
the program must be fake then wouldn't you think so?

u know what trojan viruses are very sneaky i use to have the same problems with viruses coming packed in with other software and its hell to remove those viruses because the first thing they do is come back to haunt you over and over again scan after scan quarantine after quarantine the only thing i could recommend is that you unplug your modem from the internet because viruses love the internet and if your running a scanner the virus will call upon the server its linked to to keep itself alive and thrawting on your system. just remove the cable or turn off wireless or whatever and run a few virus scans. if it keeps coming up then the virus is there to stay unless u get deep into the registry deep into what files are causing the problems and etc but its real hard to remove depending on how vicious the virus is. if the virus goes away and u plug in the computer to the net run a few virus scans while ur there if it comes back try a different virus scanner such as PANDA or AVG. avg has a free edition just go to google.com and type in avg free edition and get the basic on thats free. but if nothing gets rid of the virus than yeah u might just have to delete the program BUT of course more than likely the virus has already infected your computer beyond repair that it wouldnt matter if you removed the software or not. the virus scanner might help in some respects but its there and you might feel a slow down. best bet is to just reinstall windows if it does and becareful what u download and install

Wow, first I have to say I am surprised a trojan got past Norton. I have used Norton for 12 years and never had anything get past it, it blocks it before it gets on there. However, if you removed the virus, rescan and if it isn't infected you can keep the program as long as it is working properly. I do agree with djfree thought, get it disconnected from the internet and then rescan with Norton. It may not have had a virus to start with, a virus can attach itself to a program anywhere along the way in cyberspace. Just be sure to run Norton again and if it is clean, I see no reason to remove it. Be sure that you download from trusted sites though from now on. I don't know where you downloaded from, however, cnet.com or download.com is a trusted site and you can search for whatever program you want there. That is where my computer manufacturer told me to look for downloads. There is also a program out there called CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com and they recommended that I download that and run it about once a week or so. Also run AdAware, you can get it from http://www.downloads.com also. I run my AdAware daily!
Good luck.
