HI…
My Computer is a HP pavillion 513n with Windows XP service pack 3. well my computer just recently started to run slow like the computer useage bounces back and fourth from 75%-100% constently. and my commit charge will range from 350M-450M out of 1246M. it started doing this when i got a protection thing from my isp Time Warner. it is called CA internet protection. i got this because i accidently fell for spyware and downloaded WinSpywareProtect. now my computer is completly free of viruses but now it runs slow. it takes a long time to open a program and then a long time toanything in that program. and it takes 5-10 min to restart the computer. what can i do to fix this problem?

You didn't get rid of your virus. Purchase McAfee on-line and download - it will scan your hard drive before installing itself and is worth every penny. You get what you pay for.

Me myself, I like avg anti-virus. It is free and very good. Also anti-vir is good. Run spybot search and destroy also. All of the programs are free and I have never gotten an infection in roughly 7-8 years on 3 different comps. Good luck.

have you thought about re-formating the hard drive?
the only bad thing about is that you lose all of your data and even if you do save your data, you have to reload it.
but the good thing is that it makes the hard drive go a lot quicker.
maybe take it to geek squad?

its possible spk3 is partially to blame
which version of it are you running? i have 4 different versions of it and each are different
also your system is probably still compromised i'd recommend doing a FDR on it to eliminate it threats all together
if you backup any data you may back up the virus too
try http://www.antivirus.com and then get hijack this also download spybot search and destroy and adaware
get a good security suite like panda Kasparesky or Trend Micro or NOD32 as these are the best of the best
you might be able to fix it but i doubt it…

windows xp sp3 has some bug issues, might want to downgrade to sp2.
