Antivirus XP is an extremely dangerous program that will try to get you to purchase it in order to continue to infect your PC. It’s a difficult program to remove but if you follow these steps you shouldn’t have a problem:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It got rid of it for me. It may only work only if it's updated..if Antivirus XP is preventing this updating (It would say that the update failed), then you must find a manual bypass..which can be located below. Just visiting that page manually updates the software. Once updated, run a full scan, and do anything that it prompts you to do..even if it involves windows components being deleted and repaired (automatically of course), if successful, you should still have all of your files intact. Both the place to download the program and manually update it are on my sources. Good luck.

P.S. You do not need to buy the program..buying it only gets you realtime protection. The bulk of the program and deletion of any ailments found are all FREE. Also, the version I just provided is newer than the one I used..and may already be updated to find the Antivirus XP 2008 program without updates. If you have limited access to the internet like I did, then search for a way to manually update it if indeed the virus isn't letting it update automatically. This is the ONLY program i've found that works. Believe me..i've tried superantispyware, spyhunter, and simular programs..but none worked.

You need to run a antivirus and antispyware scan.

If you don’t already have any on your computer, you can download some free ones:
      Avast!
      AVG Anti-Virus FREE Edition
      Spybot Search and Destroy
      Ad-Aware 2008

After installation, update all of them and run the anti-virus program.
After the scan, delete anything it finds, then boot in SAFE MODE. Run both anti-spyware programs. (Spybot & Ad-Aware). Delete anything it finds.

While in SAFE MODE, you may be able to access the Add/Remove programs. See if the Antivirus 2008 is listed. If not, just continue.

Antivirus 2008 is a fake virus that you get tricked into downloading so it can infect your computer more. If you didnt download it, you would have been able to get the virus away faster.

The messages are the scam to get you to download it, because the messages get installed from a site and can easily be deleted by cleaning out TEMP Files and running spyware programs.

After you do all of the above, run a Disk Cleanup

If the virus is still on there, try to get into System Restore. If you can’t get on in Normal Mode, try SAFE MODE and restore to a earlier time.

      Hope I helped :)

You could go into Start/run enter cmd that puts you in th DOS box. From there you can navigate to the keylogger. If you can’t see the keylogger you can use the -h command line toggle when using the dir *.* command.
