Help with Antivirus 2009 malware…can’t login to computer?

October 18th, 2008 · 6 Comments

I believe my laptop has contracted the Antivirus 2009 malware and now I’m unable to login to the computer in Normal or Safe mode within XP. Once at the login screen, the mouse and keyboard fails to work, thus preventing me from logging on. Any ideas?
Any other ideas if I don't have my recovery disk for the laptop? Thanks!
USB Port also does NOT work.

put in recovery disc for you laptop. If it doesn’t ask you to boot from disc drive you need to boot to bios and set boot order so that your disc drive is first!

USB port work? try plugging you Ipod and see if it lights up. If so use the USB port and get a usb keyboard and mouse from someone. Anti virus 2009 is going to be in a write protect file i believe if its the same as 2005-08. It isn’t suppose to lock you out of your PC but it may have had a trojan that has corrupted your drivers for you keyboard and touch pad. The file if in the same place is under my computer/C:/Windows/Codec- that file will be it. The old ones were mainly spread using “download this direct x Controller” and it just plants the file into your windows folder. Did i start telling you stuff like Warning your pc is infected! and Critical error detected by windows and pop up with buy and download this now to save your computer. If so that’s the malware 2009 alright

If you get in Email me i’ll guide you through finding it. If not email me anyways i’ll find and alternate solution.

Antivirus 2009 (2009 or 2008, or Antivirus XP2009, system antivirus, smart antivirus or other names - there are many clones of this rogue software) is a piece of malware that infects your computer and constantly pops up notices that you have an infection and you have to buy or update Antivirus 2009. This is a scam to trick you into paying $30 for some useless software. The malware installed when you downloaded something from the web, sometimes masquerading as a video codec or other useful software. It is persistent, and infects a number of Windows files.

malwarebyte have created a free rogue removal tool for this problem
because recently thousands of people have been infected.

To remove this FAKE AV from your pc, follow the instructions given at
