Help with AVG 8.0 free?

I have just downloaded the free anti-virus and set it to scan at a certain time but it doesn't scan and i have pressed the scan computer button but nothing happens. its supposed to scan everyday and ive had it for 10 days and the history is empty and says that no scans have been made. Whats wrong with it. ??
yes my comp is on wen its supposed to scan
