Recently when I was in the process of reinstalling Spybot Search and Destroy, I got some spyware on my computer, namely the program XP Antivirus 2008. I was successful in removing it, but apparently a few other things came bundled with it, namely spyware that redirects any links I click in a search engine, corrupts any downloads I make, and doesn’t allow me to go to certain websites. I have used an array of programs (Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, HijackThis, RougeFix, SmitfraudFix, AVG Antivirus, Symantec Antivirus, Windows Defender, and Ace Utilities registry cleaner) but to no avail. Does anyone know how I can remove this spyware?

With Highjackthis you will need to locate the malicious files and the directories that they are in. Open those directories and find those files, disconnect from the internet, have HighJackThis fix those particular files, then delete the files manually (a program called unlocker will help if the file is active: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/). Reboot you computer and see if that did it. The worst case scenario would be a reformat to your system.
Also try using Avira: http://www.free-av.com/ it got the best detection rate in Anit-virus software, and also try downloading and installing comodo firewall pro: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ by default it is set to safe mode which should allow you to gain control of all the software running on your system.

Run your computer in safe mode (this the spyware dose not have a chance to activate) and run a full scan with your anti-spyware program.
