Since December 12, I haven't been able to start Yahoo! Messenger. All it ever does is appear as a running process on the Windows Task Manager, and after that, the program seems to be frozen. I have to manually start Task Manager and terminate the process. Restarting Windows has absolutely no effect — the same thing happens over and over again. I also can't uninstall the program, as the process freezes in three different places. I can't invoke the "repair" process because it hangs there as well. I also tried deleting the Yahoo!\Messenger folder from Program Files and then reinstalling the program, but that process hangs as well! Now what am I supposed to do?

You might need to switch to another YIM. Yahoo is having a lot of problems with IM 9. IM 8 also has a few problems. Try this site it has all the older versions of yahoo messengers. I have vista and 9 does not work well with vista & XP. Try 7 that is the one I switched to and it is working ok. Hope this helps!!!
