You shouldn’t run both firefox and explorer at the same time. I tried that and my computer slowed down. I didn’t have better luck with firefox so i now use explorer.

Download from trusted sites and you are not welcoming a virus.
This is their official site.

It is much faster than IE.
It is not dangerous to your computer.

I don’t know what gave you the impression that downloading Firefox will give you a virus, FireFox is very reliable as a browser, it’s definitely not dangerous and I’m 100% sure you will be better off with it than IE.

I run both Firefox and IE on my system so I can use one browser at uni and one at home (different proxy settings stored).
Firefox is my preferred browser because its faster, has never corrupted (itself or the Windows installation), and has reduced the number of malware infestations.
Thumbs up to Firefox.
