I want to make it straight that vista stays.optionally I want to choose whether to use xp sometimes.Is there a way that this remains a secret? I mean after the computer opens in vista,can I restart it in xp? I dont want him to know about it.I heard about choosing between two systems thats not what I want.but still you can tell me how to do that too. thanx a lot..

very possible, but it won’t be a secret, even if you manage to hide the OS boot menu, your brother is bound to wonder where did the missing gigabytes of storage go!

You could make it Dual boot, but that would put a menu to choose either XP or Vista on startup so it wont be a secret.
You could also run XP within Vista through virtualization.
