I've just updated my AV. Now I find the "site advisor" on my browser. Out of curiosity, I googled "My Space" just to see what would come up. It stated that the site has been tested and that it is safe to use. This after the media had run stories of a virus coming from myspace.
Again, I then googled some porn sites to see what would come up. Again, the sites were said to have been tested and that there were no issues. As I understand most porn sites are notorious for spyware, adware and trojans.
So, just how reliable is this "site advisor" thing? Does anyone have any opinion or knowledge of it?

I just updated my Mcafee AV. It was about to expire. This came from the Mcafee website included in the package that I ordered. I didn't load this from a pop up or anything like that.

WHAT IS AV 2009?
Antivirus 2009 is a new rogue anti-spyware program. It is also a clone of Antivirus 2008 - also a rogue, and one that's produced more clones than any other recently. The list of these clones is long: System Antivirus 2008, Ultimate Antivirus 2008, Vista Antivirus 2008, XP Antivirus 2008 etc.
Like any other of it's predecessors, Antivirus2009 uses Trojans to spread.
These trojans lurk in porn/wares websites
disguised as video codecs, and, upon entering the system, floods the user with popups and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform him of an infection.
Antivirus 2009 will inform the user of this regardless of whether it's true or not. It simply detects fake viruses which do not exists anywhere The main idea of them is to convince the user that he is infected and therefore needs an antispyware program immediately to remove the threats.
This software has got some links on it, if u click on any of those links u will be taken to one webpage which will tell u to purchase the software first, and also may redirect web browser to antivirus-premium-scan.com, webscannertools.com, googlescanners-360.com, livesecurityinfo.com, antivirusonlivescan.com, bestantivirusscan.com, antivirus-best.com, internetquarantinesite.com, premiumlivescan.com and secureclick1.com websites that sell the malware. Some of these website are not only fraudulent, but they are also malicious. they are capable of installing additional malwares.
Antivirus 2009 is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block it's websites using your HOSTS file.
REMOVAL
As far as I am concerned I don’t know what antivirus software u use, but if u use any of the free or paid antivirus software which are famous like AVG 8 free, avast, avira, anti malware and many more with the latest updates then u can definitely remove it within quick seconds just by running a quick scan
The reason why your antivirus software is not able to detect this software is becoz u may be using some non-famous or low-quality antivirus software or u must have not updated your software to the latest version
Any way if u don’t want to opt for any large size software’s then there is a very small 2 MB software which can easily remove it called as malwarebytes anti malware available here for free http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php, download it and run a full scan and u r done
I highly recommend you not to delete any registry keys manually this will stop your PC permanently
