How can I access restored files that were made from XP OS backup, on my vista ?

June 19th, 2008 · No Comments

I had a virus on my XP home vaio. I backed up my files on an external hard drive. I clean installed my laptop with Vista and downloaded windows updates and Sony drivers and software. I started to restore and it was interrupted. I couldn't see the backup folder on the externall drive anymore. Then I copied the folder from my laptop back to the external hard drive and started the restrore again. A message came up that restore was done successfully. My laptop hard drive showed 20 gig fuller but no sign of my restored files, music, pictures, or anything. I even searched for them and windows couldn't find them. The backup folder is still on the external hard drive but I can't open to see it.
Another issue that I have is, after updating my wirelss driver to Vista, it detects the wireless network but doesn't connect to the router. External wireless card and LAN work just fine, but my internal wireless doesn't.
Can anyone help me with these two issues please? I'd really appreciate it.
