I’ve heard bad things about Norton Internet Security but I NEVER thought it would be THIS annoying. So I have this file that is 100% harmless but according to Norton IS 08, it is a Trojan Horse. I used to have Kaspersky but subscription ran out and went for Norton this time, Kaspersky never detected the file as dangerous and I’m 100% sure there’s nothing wrong with the file, however, Norton IS keeps deleting the file without giving ME any say in this, it just deletes it and that’s it? WTF?!
Then I have to go through the process of opening Norton and restore the file. There’s no option to “ignore” the file. I added the folder where the file is to the “Risk scanning exceptions” and to the “auto protect exceptions”, however, it STILL deletes the file.
This is frustrating me now and the only option I have is to turn off the “Auto-Protect” which would leave me vulnerable to a hell bunch of things. HELP!!!
blake k, what the heck are you talking about? Did you even read my post?

You have a virus! & here’s how to remove it
(Try This First) Malwarebytes Anti Malware http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html FREE EDITION (one of the free AV to Remove Antivirus 2009)
Kaspersky AV 2009 http://usa.kaspersky.com/trials/home-users/anti-virus/ 30 day trial
Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.
May not be required (Depending on severity & if so DO NOT) Once removed do so!
If Fails to remove do it in safe mode here’s how
1. Log out and reboot your machine.
2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.
3. Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking from the resulting menu.
4. When the login screen comes up, log in as Administrator. By default, Administrator has no password.
5. The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different.
6. When you’re finished doing what you need to do, log out and reboot back into normal mode.
