I uninstalled it, but I keep getting an error message and i’ve restarted and it won’t get off my computer, what do I do, I can’t install new security until I get it off?
And what should I get after it is gone? Free, preferably.

AVG 8 is a good program. Don’t get rid of it, there’s really nothing better!

First I don’t know why you need to remove AVG unless it is conflicting with another anti virus
Second try Control panel Add/Remove programs
Third try windows explorer, and delete from the list of programs
Fourth do you have any other anti virus installed

How can I get rid of AVG 8 Free? Use to Remove it Revo Uninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/ Revo Uninstaller helps you to uninstall and remove unwanted programs installed on your computer even if you have problems uninstalling and cannot uninstall them from “Windows Add or Remove Programs” control panel applet.
Revo Uninstaller is a much faster and more powerful alternative to “Windows Add or Remove Programs” applet!
With its advanced and fast algorithm, Revo Uninstaller analyzes an application’s data before uninstall and scans after you uninstall an application. After the program’s regular uninstaller runs, you can remove additional unnecessary files, folders and registry keys that are usually left over on your computer. Even if you have a broken installation, Revo Uninstaller scans for an application’s data on your hard disk drives and in the Windows registry and shows all found files, folders and registry keys so you can delete them.
With its unique “Hunter mode”, Revo Uninstaller offers you some simple, easy to use, but effective and powerful approaches to manage (uninstall, stop, delete, disable from auto starting) and to get information about your installed and/or running programs.
Then Download and Scan Use superantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/ Download and Scan Use Malwarebytes http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=contentBody;mostPopTwoColWrap&cdlPid=10878968 and this Avast Home Edition

if you can restart it I do not think you have properly removed AVG 8. If you are using windows XP here is how it should be removed. Click start (lower left of monitor) - click control panel - click add or remove programs. You should see AVG 8 listed click on it then click on change/remove. Windows will remove the program for you. Cannot imagine why you would want to get rid of the best free anti-virus program there is.
