How can I import .avi files into vista’s movie maker has video files instead of audio files?

November 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I have been trying to use vista’s movie maker. I want to make a video with these .avi files i have, but whenever i import the files, movie maker plays them like audio files. Whenever i preview it, only audio plays, no video. Does anyone know how I can import my .avi files as video instead of audio?
i downloaded the xvid codec you suggested, but i didnt have any luck.

The problem happened because you haven't installed proper codec, please try to download XVIDE CODEC from http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=1052&ssid=0&did=1

You may miss the video code, go and google search for K-lite code, download and install it, your problem will be solved.
And Windows movie maker accepts wmv video. If you don’t know how to convert video to wmv video, I think this step by step guide would help you
