You have to boot in from when your PC starts up, so press i think its F12 or F8 or something (it will come up on the screen) and select boot from disc( along those lines)
Good Luck!

If you have an XP install disc then when starting your computer with the disc in, if your computer doesn't automatically boot from the disc then most newer computers you will see boot options display for a short moment, usually will say to push one of the F keys such as F10 or F12. Once you've booted from cd then you will be able to install xp with your install disc. Keep in mind that alot of manufacturers are no longer supporting xp drivers for the pc's that they release with Vista on them.
As far as the drivers go, you can install something called nlite on your vista pc. After installing this you have to put your xp install disc in, run your Nlite program from windows vista and then you will be able to integrate all the drivers and even lots of startup programs of your choice on your newly created install disc. You can learn more about the program at the following link http://www.nliteos.com/ some people have better luck with vlite since its more stable creating the disc from vista, heres the link for it http://www.vlite.net/ I hope this helps… P.S. To get all the latest drivers for all pc manufacturers to integrate into your newly customized xp install disc you can obtain them from here http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/
