I was infected with the Antivirus XP 2008 virus. Spyzooka was able to remove. Great company to deal with. My problem now is I can't restore screen saver. The restore function was not turned on so I can't go back to a date earlier than the date I discovered the virus. Is there a way to restore the screen saver function outside of using the system restore function?

Go to Run
type in Regedit.exe
Go to HKey current user
Then Software
Then Microsoft
Then Windows
Then Current Version
Then Policies
Check all the files in the folders in Policies
For all the blue things except for the Nodrivetypeautorun the value should be zero if its not click it and change it to zero

You don't want to use system restore now, or you will be right back with the same problem you just got rid of. Do you mean you can't get a screen saver to run at all? If that's the case, you may have some other problem. If you are just simply unable to find the screen saver you had before the virus, that may be a matter of downloading it again. Screen savers are found in C:\Windows\system32.
I don't know if this helped you or not since your question leaves some openings I'm guessing at.

If you can't restore the screen saver, the virus isn't completely gone. Try Malware Bytes. It's been the bext thing I've found for this particular pest. If that still doesn't get it, you may be forced to reload your PC. If parts of the virus are still there, it can regenerate the entire infection.
