I got 30 days of Norton Security with my new notebook. The 30 days are up, and I want to download McAfee Security that is free with my Comcast Internet account. So today I uninstalled Norton but clicked the option to keep my account password active in case I might ever want to pay for a subscription. But McAfee will not allow me to download unless this is removed too, and I can’t. There’s no way to completely uninstall Norton from my Windows Vista Control Panel. I’m stuck–it seems like Norton’s got me where they want me, and I want to know how to delete my Norton account entirely. And there is no "delete account" option on Norton’s website. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool. This will rid of the horrible antivirus you have installed. As far as your McLaughee plans, don’t get it. PC tools antivirus is free and it works so much better. You can throw 1,000 viruses at PC tools, and it will catch 998. You throw 1,000 viruses at McLaughee, it will pat ‘em on the back and welcome them in, and feed them dinner. It will catch maybe 3 if you’re lucky, for the life of its license.

I agree with Chris. Just download the Norton Removal Tool and it’ll get it off.

- Click your "Start" button in the bottom left-hand corner. Click on "Control Panel." Double click the " Add or Remove Programs" icon.
- Locate and click on the Norton or Symantec or products.
- Click on the "Remove" button. In the next window, click the "Remove All" button. This initiates the removal process.
- Reboot your PC once you are prompted to after the removal process is complete. Once your computer is re-booted, Norton will have been removed from your PC.
i’m using avast home edition . The new version has been released on their website. It s a freeware. You can register yourself on the avast website to recive the registration key . They provide timely updates (small in size, ie. In kb’s. Which s usefull for people with limited internet plans ). It s fully legal n it generates a virus recovery database to report avast about the new viruses .
To detect n delete malwares on your comp use malware bytes . Another free software . N a powerfull tool to clean your comp of malwares. I use these softwares myself .

You need to disable Norton first. In the tool tray, right click on the Norton icon and choose exit or what ever it says.If you don’t take this step and you begin to uninstall it,then there will be live and active files and folders left behind and that will prevent you from installing another security suite.
After that go to:
1.start
2. then to control panel
3. then to add or remove programs
4. click on Norton to highlight it and click on remove and let the program run
After this is complete:
1.click start again
2. click on search
3 click all files and folders
4 type Norton in searchbar
5. make sure it set to scan your hard drive and run the program
6 delete and files/folders only directly related to Norton
If you have CCleaner, run that and then restart your PC
