I use a Verizon pcmcia/pc card in my laptop for my internet connection. I also have a Mac Mini at home but no pc card slot. Since I have open USB slots, do they make an adapter? They seem to make every kind of card reader but pcmcia. I don’t want leave the laptop on with internet file sharing just to use my Mac online.

You are right, there is not a decent PCMCIA to USB adapter.
PCMCIA is a dying form factor, and if you can exchange your card for a USB modem, that would be the way to go:

If you are stuck with that verizon pcmcia card, your best option is to stick it into the Kyocera KR2 EVDO router that allows you to share the EVDO connectivity with multiple computers either via airport/wifi or even ethernet.

however, if you are able to exchange pcmcia for USB, you could get one of the less expensive portable cradlepoint EVDO routers, like this CTR350 ($100 less than KR2):
