You don’t need to use the DOS method.
The tool I’ll give you below, does the job well, and you’ll want to keep this tool for future removal of stubborn programs in the future as well.

There are many programs that are so cleverly coded that you have difficulty removing them, even going through Add & Remove Programs…

Here is a handy little tool that is FREE
      download and follow the instructions
and those nuisance programs will be removed on reboot.
      Use Program:
      REMOVE ON BOOT SHELL EXTENSION

      Go to:
      http://www.snapfiles.com/get/removereboot.html
Scroll down to: (and click it to download)
Remove on Reboot Shell Extension - Free

      1. Download it to a folder on your desktop >
open the folder and double click the install the REMOVE ON REBOOT program >
      then restart your computer.
      2. To remove program >Right click on your program folder that you want removed
      3. Left click sub-menu option: REMOVE ON REBOOT
      4. Then reboot your pc
I’ve had lots of great luck with this little program. I think you’ll like it too.
      ====================
Note: To get to a program FOLDER (not just the shortcut icon) >
      a. RIGHT click START > select Explore >
      b. then in the Explore window, left panel >
      c. scroll down to Programs >
      d. then in Programs scroll down to the FOLDER that has the program you want to remove
      OR
      e. Do a “search” for the offender using your explore search engine. Look for the culprit “applicaton”.

f…then do the right click “remove on reboot” selection >
      g. Restart your computer

Likely, you will have to manually remove the Windows Registry entries for this product.
Contact Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 Customer Support for instructions on how to Completely Uninstall the product including the registry settings.
They can send you directions on how to do this.
      I hope this helps.

The reason files are left behind is because they are in memory(currently in use). If you can boot to a command prompt(DOS) then you can manually delete any files that are left behind after an uninstall. You can do this from DOS because the files will not be loaded into memory as they would from a normal windows boot. If you have a boot disk, you should be able to start from DOS. You can download boot disks from the internet or follow directions on how to create your own. You have to make sure what file system you are using otherwise your boot disk will not allow you to see any files on your hard drive(FAT32/NTFS).
