How can you identify whether a PC monitor is a CRT or LCD? And what about with a television?

July 9th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I have a flat screen PC Monitor by Dell. How do I tell if it is a CRT or LCD? Are flat screen monitors always LCDs?

And what about with my tv? It is old, back from the 90s, and by Magnavox. It is not flat.

CRT's are deep monitors. LCD's are thin.

some crt monitors are flat screened, but have a deep enclosure, whereas lcd monitors are also flat screened, but the entire monitor is only about and inch or two deep.

crt's are made of glass. Lcd is film.

so to tell the diffrene, just push on the monitor. if it feels like glass, its a crt.

if when you push on the monitor and it feels like a film and you see dark and ligh spots apear when you press on it, thats an lcd.

Are you for real whats flat have to do with it, put it this way if you can pick it up with one hand and it about 2 inches thick its an LCD if you have to get you back into it its a CRT, seriously I can't believe someone would ask a question like this but if you don't know you don't know, ( I'm shaking my head ) I can't get over this question, its made my day, I'm cracking up………..
PS: They are all flat lcd's anyway I think I haven't seen a curved one.
