Google is already set as my default search provider in IE. It used to be that no matter which page or site I was on, I could just type a word or phrase in the search box on the upper right-hand corner of the page, hit "enter", and I would be immediately brought to a results page. Since having to reset my Internet explorer, I am immediately brought to ONLY the Google Home page, without results, where I must again type in what I'm looking for. How do I change this back to the more convenient way it used to be before the reset? Thanks : )
EDIT: No, I didn't previously have google toolbar. From the very first time I used this laptop online (it was brand-new) the IE searchbox AUTOMATICALLY searched my word or phrase and presented me with results at google, directly from the IE7 searchbox! It wasn't anything I set. Since having to reset my IE though, it only brings me to the google homepage, without results. Also, Google was never my homepage and I don't want it to be my homepage. This automatic search worked fine before without having google toolbar NOR google homepage. It sounds like a trivial problem, but when I'm crunched for time, it's quite irritating…I truly miss just typing in my word or phrase in the IE7 searchbox, clicking the magnifying glass and being directly brought to results! Doesn't it work this way for anyone else?
EDIT: No, sorry, neither of those answers help me…This is the second time I'm trying to get this information, It must be my lack of clarity explaining what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway : )

It almost sounds as if you had Google Toolbar installed onto your old IE browser. I'm not sure if I'm on the right track here, but if so just go to google and simply download and install it again. I have the google toolbar installed and I can type in what I'm looking for in a box on the right hand top corner and it takes me to a results page. Without the toolbar (like at my work) I have to go to the google page and then type in my information etc. Hope this helps

Assuming you have IE7 here. Make sure Google is your default search engine in the top right corner.
Click the triangle beside the magnifyer and get a menu up. If Google is there make it your default again. If nothing is there then click "Find More Providers" and it will open a page for you to choose as many as you want from. Click and make it default search.
Have you tried ASK.com or Ask.co.uk … Works slightly different to Google, has a better layout and easy to explore links.
Should fix your prob. Yet another way is to make Google your home page, open a new tab and click the home button on screen to open the search page.
