The stubborn thing will not let me uninstall it. I tried add/remove programs, and it whines and says I cannot uninstall it until I uninstall all McAfee components. Welp, to my knowledge, I did that. Both the Add/Remove programs screen and the security center screen show all other components gone.
I snooped through the programs files and found no uninstall.exe or similar thing. The related McAfee.com folder has an 'uninst' folder, but the only thing in it is an icon file and another non-executible file.
This thing came with my wife's computer, I married into it, and I want it GONE! Currently, her computer is not hooked up to the internet. And yes, I have another (less stress inducing) antivirus for it.
So can anyone help me uninstall this thing? Short of recklessly dragging the thing into the recycle bin, I'm out of ideas (and I'd like remove it more completely, a proper uninstall).
Thanks in advance for any answers, and God bless!
PS- I seriously considered just formatting the hard drive and starting over, but her original operating system disk is MIA. She doesn't know where it is, and I can't find it among her software CD's.

I think the best way to do is to go to the McAfee Security Center Website and ask them about that. I think there's a section to enable you to contact them: http://us.mcafee.com/root/aboutUs.asp?id=contactUs …Why don't you contact them explaining your problem? Hope you will be able to sort it out!
