How do i delete the file C:\DOCUME~1\katie\LOCALS~1\Temp\~osEDE.tmp\osmim.dll on my computer?

March 3rd, 2009 · 1 Comment

I have this file that was infected C:\DOCUME~1\katie\LOCALS~1\Temp\~osEDE.tmp\osmim.dll at first i tried deleting it but i couldn't so i did something in safe mode and was able to rename it and move it. when i did my virus scan again it showed it moved and was quarantined. so i thought i didn't have to mess with it anymore. but then a trend micro pc-cilln internet security box popped up telling me that the file was infected and was quarantined but the box pops up every time my internet is plugged in and when i close out of it. when i tried to search for the file i could not find it. even in hidden folders. What can i do. I need help Please.

You have been infected with something. Obviously Trend cannot get rid of it. DO NOT use the web for anything personal such as banking. Your Identity is a risk. You can download highjackthis, run a scan and submit it to any one of a number of forums especially for this.

      Get it here:
      http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html
      or:
      http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis

Remove all personally identifiable information from your computer.
Only connect to the NET for getting rid of this infection. Otherwise, keep your computer off the NET.

Sorry you got bit. Forget Facebook, MySpace and all the other social sites until this is fixed. Even then, be wary of these kinds of sites as they are malware magnets.

Get a Router. Beware of file sharing programs like LimeWire, etc…
Make sure you keep your computer up to date. Try Firefox and use the Noscript Add-on.

      Good luck and Cheers!
