It’s about Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x.
It’s really ridiculous… There are tons of files in:
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Cached Installs\…
Symantec… Do you hear me? I DON’T WANT TO CACHE SUCH!
Also… Offer an easy to find option to DISABLE unwanted options!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really don’t care what it’s for… It needs to be disabled. Or at least the folder should be located elsewhere - NOT in the profile dir which makes it ridiculous big.
Caching every executable/MSI is really stupid. IF a PC really would have a virus: then what’s the use in have cached files? They can be infected too. Anyway, if a PC has a virus, i’m not gonna clean - i’m gonna re-image.
Also… Big profiles always give many performance and operating problems.
I can’t get an other virusscanner.. It’s our corporate version which all computers have (next time, i recommend NOD32 to our managers - but for now, that’s no solution).
Anyway, how do i prevent Symantec from creating hundreds of big files in that Cached Installs folder?
Please, only serious answers - otherwise the Q won’t get new answers. Non-answers (like the previous answer to the almost same question) will be reported.
DONT GIVE USELESS ANSWERS LIKE ‘ CONTACT SYMANTEC / INSTALL SOME OTHER VIRUSSCANNER / THERE’S NO SOLUTION’ ETC!!
SO: IF YOU DON’T HAVE A SOLUTION: THEN SHUT UP PRETTY PLEEEEEASE!!
Non-serious answers will be reported, which will cost you 10 points.
