How do I enter the security encryption (WEP) key on my laptop for my router?

June 12th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hi there. I just bought a new laptop and I tried to connect it to our wireless router, but my new laptop (vista) was set up with security enabled so we set up a passphrase and the security encryption (WEP) key.

After that, my dad's laptop could only get limited connectivity and he is not able to access the internet, but it does say he is connected. This is what my laptop said before we entered the key so I'm guessing that is the same problem. My dad is very frustrated that mine is working now and his isn't lol

Any help?

Try hooking a cable up from the router to your dad's laptop. Wait till the address is identified between the laptop and router, Then try it without the cable
The cable has to be a ethernet cable and plugged into the etnernet terminal. Use no. 1 terminal right after where the modum hooks in
