Had a problem installing Norton, decided to just use AVG. Went into Control Panel, then Add or Remove and tried to uninstall it - but I keep getting an error. Everytime I turn on computer, it’s trying to finish installation. Anyway, I can delete these Norton files and remove from my computer?

Norton has an uninstaller tool available at its website. You’ll need to select the appropriate version.

Try to uninstall with safe mode
how to:
hurry press F8 when your PC is booting
then select Safe Mode
after some minutes warning box out
just press ok
and you are in Safe Mode now
try to uninstall it….
Second way:
remove it using Norton Removal Tool
get it from symantec website here

Use CCleaner, it is an open source program that erases left over program files from your computer. Hope this helps.

Hello KDK..:
Many Anti-Virus programs require that special removal software tools be used to remove their Anti-Virus product. This makes sense when you think about it because the first behavior a virus would exhibit would be to protect itself by diasbling and ultimately uninstalling the A/V program. Norton is one of those software providers that require their unique tool to remove their product.
The good news is that it is available at this Norton website:
(copy and paste the link below into your browser’s address bar)

Make sure that your computer is disconnected from the internet when you uninstall Norton and re-install your new program.
One more word of advice, although AVG is a good A/V program…it certainly does not rank among the best as it scans very slowly while being very resource intensive. A superior program to consider would be Avast Home which is their free version and I recommend it highly.
Avast can be downloaded from here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
And for added protection run an additional program called Malwarebytes Antimalware which looks for spyware and
other malicious software. It does not conflict with Avast or AVG for that matter and will definitely increase your security.
I hope this has been of some help to you!
