\"Yes, this is good. After using a registry cleaner you\'re going to need spyware protection to get rid of the main source of registry errors which is… spyware. Just to be on the safe side, run this program after you run your registry cleaner. It will help out immensely preventing future registry errors.

I have exactly the same problem with my computer at home that you described in your posting. I've been infected with "Anti Spyware Master" and it sounds like it happend just like it did with you.
I have not yet removed it, but have looked into different possibilities. I'm hesitant to follow any instructions that do not come from a reliable source, out of concern that it might just be an extension of the original hoax.
Wikipedia is not usually a trusted site, because you never know who writes the entries. However, there is an entry on "Anti Spyware Master" and Wikipedia itself (not just some random contributor) endorses a particular spyware-removal program that I've seen mentioned in other reliable sources after I "Googled" the term "ani spyware master."
I am at my office now, but as soon as I get home, I'm going to try installing this recommended (and free) spyware removal program. It is found on the Internet for download at:
http://www.spywareremove.com/removeAntiSpywareMaster.html
I have already tried manually removing Anti Spyware Master from my computer, but I run into the same problem you described — it doesn't even show up on my list of programs. I can't even find any related files on my hard drive. It's like my entire computer doesn't even know it's there.
Have you also noticed that it locks you out of your computer's Task Manager? When I press "Crtl-Alt-Delete" it gives me a message along the lines of "The Task Manager has been deactivated by your administrator." Well, that's a load of crap because I am the administrator of my own computer, and I certainly never deactivated my own task manager.
Anyway, if this recommended anti-spyware removal tool is successful, I'll try coming back here to tell you that. However, this is my first time here (just looking for the same answers as you) so I can't guarantee I'll be able to find this place again. However, I think you can respond to my post and I'll get an e-mail telling me your message.
Good luck,
