How do I get rid of Norton PC Check-up after uninstalling the program?

September 5th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I uninstalled this program from my computer and then tried to delete the icon from my desktop, When I went to remove the icon a window opened and told me that the program could not be found. How do I remove this icon?

It should disappear when you reboot.
It’s best to remove Norton products with a special remover they provide for free, otherwise a lot of rubbish is left behind.

You’ll need to use the Norton Removal Tool to get rid of it completely.

I always recommend the following be stored on computers and install them myself on any I repair.

      Avast Home Edition http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Run a full scan once a month. I find this the best free anti-virus software

      SUPERantispyware Free Edition http://superantispyware.com
Update and run a full scan once a week.

      Spybot Search and Destroy http://safer-networking.org
Update, Immunize and scan once a week.

      ccleaner http://ccleaner.com
Run the Cleaner scan and remove all it finds
Run the Registry scan and fix all issues but repeat this until nothing is detected.
      Run this daily.

      Comodo Firewall http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
Some people just prefer the Windows one but this is better.

Check that you don’t need to defragment monthly and also run a Disk Cleanup monthly too.

Feel free to email me if I can be of further help

that usually happens when you try to open the application after deleting it… try to restart your computer.

I agree with the rest - and will add a comment. Never, NEVER install any Symantec/Norton software. It USED to be a great line of products - back when it was NORTON.

No more. After their software trashed three computers I never looked
back. Ghost trashed the MBR - three hours with tech support - “So sorry - no can fix that. Reformat.”

      Ditto for Norton Utilities.

      Trash. Garbage. Truly terrible software.
