How do I get rid of this pop-up display of my volume every time I change it on my HP dv9000 laptop with Vista?

I just purchased this computer this week, and every time I go to change the volume, this display pops up showing me what my volume is at. It lags my computer massively, which is rather annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

to disable the On Screen Display for all of the quick launch buttons, just go into the quick launch control panel, where you configure anything quick launch related, and Uncheck "Display HP Quick Launch Buttons Desktop Notifications" under preferences.
