I have installed WinXp Sp2 on my brother's computer (with an empty hard drive) and when he boots it, there are two options:
1) Boot Windows xp.
2) install Windows xp Sp2.
If you leave the computer alone, it will go to the install screen (the blue screen that wants you to install windows) I need to get rid of the Install windows xp Sp2 option, or just make it boot windows xp normally. This is driving me insane!!
Thanks Dement, I found what I needed to on the boot.ini file.
THANK YOU,
Meatbag Wammo

pick which one you want.. then in windows go to c: and type boot.ini up top.
delete the entry you don't want.. presto fixed. save and restart.

Modify the boot.ini. You could issue command "msconfig" ,and then you can find "boot.ini" option.

Okay that's very weird, it shouldn't be doing that with or without SP2 installed.
Is this a new issue or has it always done this? SP2 has been out for years now, but SP3 just came out recently and is causing a great deal of grief, so I'm wondering if your system has started doing that crazy loop because of trying to install SP3.
Regardless, I would suggest that you get to your desktop and then go through Control Panel to get to System Restore, then choose to restore the system back to a time before this problem started happening.
Once you've done and if everything is working normally again, run Windows Update, you should be getting SP3 as coming up wanting to be installed, among other things.
Hope this helps.

Just select Windows XP SP2 option and see what happens. Sometimes computers need to install SP2 seperately from Windows.
