How do I get Symantec Antivirus to download to my Gateway t-series?

At my University we have to download Symantec Anitvirus in order to connect to the wireless internet. They provide symantec but for some reason I can’t get it to download on my computer. I had some people look at it an they told me that there are other people with this same model computer who can’t get it to download either. I’ve removed all other antivirus programs just like I was supposed to . There were Virus scans run on my computer. I’ve done everything I was told to do. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is running system recovery. I need help please. If you know anything, please let me know. Thank you.
