How do I 'install' Winzip when it only says to 'uninstall'?

April 28th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Ok, so I was sent a file from my friend, but I need Winzip to open it. Problem is, every time I try to install a trial version of Winzip, it comes to two different options: Repair or Uninstall. Uh, hello, I haven't even INstalled the program, so why is it asking to UNinstall it when I'm trying to INstall it? I'm so confused. Anyone know how to help? I'd really appreciate it.

Depending on your version of windows, it can already deal with a zipped program.

Any Windows from 98 and up can decompress a zipped file.

      Hi

This would suggest that the computer thinks you have WinZip already installed. Click on Start> Programs and see if you can find it there.

If not, download and install a free, better compression utility (that doesn't nag like WinZip does) here:
      http://www.izarc.org

Once you have this, get the file you want and IZArc will extract the information you want from it.

      HTH,

      Deep
