How do I know if antivirus xp 2008 virus is really gone?

August 20th, 2008 · 6 Comments

My computer which runs on XP was attacked by the anti virus xp 2008 virus a few days ago. I thought I had removed it, but my computer no longer has backgrounds or screen savers. Everything else seems to be the same. When I go on the internet it seems like viruses keep trying to attack. I have norton anti virus and it seems to stop them from infecting my computer, but I feel like it might still be there due to the absence of backgrounds and screen savers and the fact that my computer seems more susceptible to viruses than before. Can it be hiding still? Is there a way to find out if it’s still actively running? Norton doesn’t seem to find anything, but at times it seems like the scan is interrupted or finds an error that stops it.
