well a while ago, my Windows XP stopped working and i wasn’t able to get on it anymore. at all. it had some problem with a message coming up at the beginning and if i chose to run Windows normally, the computer restarted and went back to the same message again.
I fortunately had a Ubuntu (Linux) disk and I used it as a Live disk for a while until I decided to install it on my computer. I don’t know if it deleted Windows or not but I remember making a separate partition thing for Ubuntu. there’s no option to startup Windows XP when I start this computer but Ubuntu does saying something about something called Grub Loader or something for a few seconds when it’s starting up. so I’m guessing that Windows XP was completely erased from my computer?
so.. is there any way I could find out if Windows XP still exists on my computer? and if there is, is there any way to get it back? like with a boot disk or something? if so, I would need to know how to create one of those from Ubuntu.
thank you to whoever can help =]
well Safe Mode didn't work when my computer was having problems. and I don't have a disk to use right now so I guess I'll have to get one of those.

I guess Grub (grand unified boot loader) would pick it up at install, but i dont know exactly how that is on ubuntu.
Easiest way is to do an fdisk/disk druid, partition magic or smth and check your partitions.
You have probably 2 for your linux; linux native and linux swap
If there is an xp partition there you should see it (ntfs or fat32)
Then you can use the xp install cd to recover the mbr (but you will lose grub… so cant start linux anymore!)
And then you'll end up with the problem you started out with, but you can probably boot safe mode and retrieve files
update:
Well there are some tools out there to help with things:
You can download torrents (search for 'torrent client' if you havent got 1 yet). Then find a site that actually has the appr. torrent (or google it) using "windows xp cd torrent" or 'thinstall torrent" or "bartpe torrent" or smth like that.
You can then download an iso file to burn a bootable cd which, if you are fortunate, also includes partition magic or smth and a file editor to retrieve files.
good luck!
