hello all i just installed office 2003 to vista basic, MS word keeps openning in word pad and if i search and click word application nothing happens.
i have read previous answers tried all, word help detect, change default programs but nothing happens but also tried to use the registry but unsure on what to do.
can anyone please help

Hi,
Right click on a doc file and right click the file. Choose the option open with and choose the option default program. There select word and place a checkmark in the box open this file type with this program always

Right click any Doc file and click Open With and then find Microsoft Word 2003 and select the box for “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”. That should fix your problem.

or right click the txt file and click properties and in the general tab just
below the file name and icon is the box for type of file and what to open
with. Click change and select your choice application.
This should change all like file types.

below answers are rigth but you may need to press SHIFT key adn then press rigth click if you cannot see open with option.
