How do i remove spyware from my laptop, i have protection?

June 16th, 2008 · 11 Comments

Ok, now first of all while i ask this question, my computer is infected with spyware. Coolwebsearch and trojanhorse are the 2 that im worried about. I have been sweeping like crazy with norton antivirus and spysweeper. i keep on removing these viruses, but im still getting alerts saying that im infected. Also my desktop is displaying a message that says im infected with spyware. Everytime i change the desktop background, it changes right back within 1 minute. Now my current plan right now is to keep on sweeping multiple times. each time i full sweep it removes about 3 viruses/spyware. so im going to stick with that plan for now. Im really trying to keep this computer alive, and i need advice on how to deal with this threat. I have the protection, and i need help!

      try spysweeper search and destroy

or else you can back up your info on discs and reformat the drive and clean install the OS

Or you can check your process list to see if anything fishy is running and find it and delete it.

First off, Norton is garbage. You should be using AVG.

I suggest removing Norton and installing AVG. I have been using it for 5 years without a problem. Updated everyday and has kept me up and running. There's a reason professional IT managers use it on their equipment.

The Best way 2 remove the virus of that kind….
1)Unistall "Norton Antivirus" from UR PC….bcoz its the biggest headache….and it also slow downs ur computer.
2)Just download the Kaspersky Antivirus…..(Get it Cracked)So u can use the full version.
3)Now just do the scaning of ur computer….i mean all the drives and each and every folders.
4)Now delete all the virus after scanning……and than download "Advance Windows Care"(Crack It)
5)Scan it and do as it says…..
i hope ur problem will be solved….

Specialized removal tool for Coolwebsearch infections, CWShredder:
      http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html
      _______________________

Phony pop-up alert boxes, desktop changes or "balloon" pop-ups from the tray (by the clock) about a trojan, virus or spyware infection and the attempt to sell you some useless software to "fix" the problem usually indicates that your computer has a Smitfraud infection. DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR BUY THE PRODUCT THEY TRY TO SELL YOU! IT IS SCAM. It is really extortion-ware, first they infect your machine, then they want $$$ to remove it.

Sounds like your computer may have a variant of this ubiquitous Smitfraud infection.

Almost all "general purpose","all-in one" spyware and virus removal programs such as AVG Anti-virus, Norton, McAfee or Spybot S & D cannot remove it, as you have already found out.

Free specialised Smitfraud removal tool is here (SmitfraudFix)
      http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

After running SmitfraudFix, to clean-up any remaining infection traces, scan for trojans,
and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus. Press "Online Scan" on the right.
      http://www.ewido.net/en/

Using "cracked" versions of anti-malware programs is never a good idea.

      Good luck.

      http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/

      Spybot - Search & Destroy
      works very well good luck

Sometimes there are messages that try to bait you to accepting to perform some task that would make your situation worse.

The first thing you must do is copy all your important data so any further problems you may have will not compromise that data. That means e-mails attachments and every picture, movie music, ect-everything.

If you have the purchased version of Norton, not the free one, chances are you should be OK-at least in a few days if the virus is new.

From what you describe, it appears you do have a virus, but you have not mentioned what you are specifically reading or Operating system you have. Without that information, it's hard to advise.

If you have coolwebsearch, spysweeper should do the job, but there are many types of Trojans. I would suggest writing down whatever shows is infected and them googling it. Generally speaking, you should be able to find the specific solution to your problem that way.

Norton and McAffee are the most popular antivirus packages out there. You are doing the right thing. But, please make sure you first back-up all your data. After you run spySweeper and Norton again, shut down and reboot and then see what is says.
