how do i uninstall aim 6.0? HELP! PLEASE!?

November 14th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I can’t uninstall AIM 6 because whenever I click the uninstaller, a pop-up comes up that says “Run uninstaller after installation is complete.” Also usually when I try that, my Symantic Anti-Virus program detects a Trojan Horse. Any ideas why?

      To uninstall the AIM software:
      1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
If using Windows XP, click the Start button, then click Control Panel.
If using Windows 98, Windows Me, or Windows 2000, click the Start button, click Settings, then click Control Panel.
      2. Double-click the Add Or Remove Programs or Add/Remove Programs icon.
      3. Click AOL Instant Messenger to highlight it, then click the Change/Remove or Add/Remove button.
      4. When the uninstall is complete, restart your computer.

Alway make sure you get AIM or any other software from the authors official site:
      http://www.aim.com/download.adp
Possible reason for the norton alert was the installer is not genuine and contains a trojan
