Hi guys i have been trying to get rid of msn messenger, but i couldn't find it through Control panel , so i took matters into my own hands , and deleted every single file that was accompanied by messenger , even the registry values … i thought that would fix it, so i tried to install 8.5 msn but it tells me "that version you are trying to install is older than the version you have now,"
so now i cant uninstall it nor can i install something else , i have tried many programs none were successful , please help.

download the version of msn messenger that you already had….i'm guessing you got your hands on the 2009 version which does not work properly….anyway…download the one you already had…….since you deleted registry entries….you will have to install it again…..then once installed…..right click on the .msi installation file…and select uninstall…it'll be un installed the proper way….
if this dosent work…get ashampoo uninstaller.

If you want to remove MSN Messenger from Windows XP and can't seem to find it in the Add/Remove Programs. You need to edit one file to have it displayed in Add/Remove Programs. There is a couple ways to uninstall MSN Messenger. One way is too run this command from Start | Run.
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
