When I got a notice saying there are updates ready for my computer I clicked like I always do only this time after the update I got a message saying my software did not pass Genuine Windows Validation. And I am asked to purchase blah blah blah. This cannot be as I made sure I get nothing but genuine software when I purchased this pc. Can somebody please help me delete this nuisance Microsoft Validation with a star for an icon. Geez, sorry, I must admit I don’t know how to call this thing. Thanks in advance.

If it says your Operating System is not genuine this means you have an illegal version of Windows. Give some information on where you bought it, if it would a computer store you could go back to ask why they sold you an illegal copy of Windows. If you bought it on the internet through E-bay or some other website, you might have to re-buy windows…

This same problem happened to me. I just installed the server package 2 for Windows XP and it left. Hope this helped.

If you have a legit Windows copy you shouldn’t see that message. Did you do the validation steps, or did it just come up randomly?
I know that the validation nagger will come up after about 30 days of use but I would expect it to go away if you validate Windows. With a legit copy you shouldn’t have any problem validating it.
If you can’t pass the validation, you’ll probably have to contact Microsoft and present proof of purchase.
