I have a windows xp and when i fo to add or remove programs i do and it works… to an extent.. I would "uninstall" it and the icon would would still be on my desktop like my sims 2 i uninstalled it from there and when i go to start panel its still there and i try to install it and it wont work!! :s
but when i do click uninstall in the all programs it says problem with shortcut

hi this problem happend to me before two weeks ,,
i'll tell you what i did ,
go to the path c/: { the game folder } DELETE IT !! thats all !!

try this go to START ALL PROGRAMS then find the game or software and then there will be an arror right beside the name click on it then it should give you the option to uninstall it

Usually the best way to uninstall a program is to first check your programs and check to see if the program that you want to uninstall has its own uninstall feature to uninstall it with and use that; then if it does not, then use the add/remove programs in control panel. If aa of the program is not completely and cleanly removed, then go to your C:/program files/ and look for the folder of the program you wanted to remove and delete the folder and its contents.
