how do i uninstall the rollup 2 update for xp media-center edition in the ms dos recovery console?

July 20th, 2009 · No Comments

i recently had to re-install windows on my dell inspiron 1501. after installing the rollup 2 update and restarted my computer an error message appeared telling me the hal.dll file was missing and windows couldnot start.

i then looked about on the web and found a sollution which was to insert my xp disk and open the recovery console and type in all the stuff till i accessed my hard drive. i then followed the instrutions to type the command "expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll" i then agreed to overright the file and it said it had expanded succesfully.

i then re-started my laptop and the same error message appeared. could someone please help and has anyone else had this problem.

thanks for taking time to read and answer my question it is much appreciated :)
