okay so i have a windows xp cd, and i want to go back to xp because i hate vista with every fiber in my being. but when i put the disc in of course it says it was blocked because the version of windows i have is newer than the version of windows on the disk.. duh, ya think? anyhoo, i can't find where to properly uninstall vista, can someone help me out? and then once i have it uninstalled (my pc is capable of booting from disk) is it automatically going to read the cd and install itself?
i did boot from the disk but it wouldn't allow it and went straight to vista because vista is newer. my question is how do i get vista completely gone so it doesn't recognize it and just loads the cd :/
lol, okay, that must have been that half second blip of text i saw on the screen, guess i'll have to be fast
and yes i've already backed everything up this morning on my external hard drive. didn't take long. i hate vista so much i didn't bother to put anything on the computer so.. heh.

boot from the xp disc and do a format on your hard drive. then install XP!
be sure to back up all your files

First be sure you backup any of your files you want to keep, pictures, music, text files.
Make sure you have your XP key ready.
Insert the XP cd into the cd-rom while in Windows Vista. Exit out of the installer because you can't downgrade from within Windows.
Restart your computer and watch the screen, when you see the message press any key to boot to cd, do so.
You will need to select format when it finds the previous Windows installation. After the format Windows XP will install.
Enter the Windows XP key when prompted during the install.

Just boot your xp cd and install it in the drive in which vista is installed it will delete vista automatically and install xp..
Or
while in boot try first to format your drive in which vista is installed and them install xp
both are good ways if possible use 2nd one first

Just boot from the XP-CD. Even if you have Vista installed you can boot from the XP-CD. From the installation you choose to reformat your harddrive, and then XP will install itself on the reformatted disk.
Be aware that this erases all data on your harddrive.
